Drew Barrymore Life Story

 
Drew Blyth Barrymore (born February 22, 1975) is an American (Culver City, California) actress, film director, screenwriter, producer, model and she overcame alcohol and drug addiction in her adolescence.
Drew is the fifth generation of the famous acting Barrymore family. Starting with the 19th century English actor Maurice Barrymore, his wife Georgina Drew, the Barrymore acting dynasty also includes Lionel, Ethel and John--Drew's great uncle, aunt and grandfather. Lesser known is John Drew Barrymore, an actor and poet, who is Drew's father.

Barrymore made her film debut in Altered States in 1980. Afterwards, she starred in her breakout role in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. She quickly became one of Hollywood's most recognized child actors, going on to establish herself in mainly comic roles.



In 1994 a 19-year-old Barrymore impulsively married Welsh bar owner Jeremy Thomas. The marriage lasted less than a month; professionally Barrymore was headed for a comeback with a string of modestly successful movies. By the mid-to late 90s the actress was bona fide box office gold with the success of "Scream," "The Wedding Singer" and "Ever After." 1998's "Never Been Kissed" is Barrymore's production company Flower Films, first production.


Barrymore became Ambassador of "Hunger" for the UN World Food Programme. But before at that time she already donated US$1 million to the program.In 2007, she became both CoverGirl's newest model and spokeswoman for the cosmetic and the face forGucci's newest jewelry line.In 2007 Barrymore was People Magazine's cover model for the magazine's annual "50 Most Beautiful People" issue.

In the winter of 2008 Barrymore announced to Oprah Winfrey that she would donate $1 million to the World Food Program to help feed African children. Barrymore appeared on the cover of and in the women's magazine Vogue to promote the program. In 2010, she was awarded the Screen Actors Guild Award and the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Miniseries or Television Film for her portrayal of Little Edie in Grey Gardens.

Her recent film was "Big Miracle" family drama with John Krasinski which was based on book "Freeing the Whales" by Tom Rose 1989 realeased on February 3, 2012. It tells about the great effort made to rescue gray whales trapped in ice near Point Barrow, Alaska.

She is a member of the Barrymore family of American actors and granddaughter of John Barrymore. She first appeared in an advertisement when she was 11 months old. Barrymore made her film debut in Altered States in 1980. Afterwards, she starred in her breakout role in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. She quickly became one of Hollywood’s most recognized child actresses.
In 1997 she and business partner Nancy Juvonen formed the production company Flower Films,[3] with its first production the 1999 Barrymore film Never Been Kissed. Flower Films has gone on to produce the Barrymore vehicle films Charlie’s Angels, 50 First Dates, and Music and Lyrics, as well as the cult film Donnie Darko. Barrymore’s more recent projects include He’s Just Not That into You, Beverly Hills Chihuahua, Everybody’s Fine and Going the Distance. A recipient of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Barrymore appeared on the cover of the 2007 People magazine’s 100 Most Beautiful issue.
